We think 155km of the region's most stunning scenery is best appreciated on your bike. To enjoy the views of Mountains, Plains, Rivers and Sea all in the one event requires a few climbs and descents. The course starts and finishes 13 metres above sea level and climbs at its highest to 231 metres in Stage 2. The toughest gradient is on the Marahau Hill at 10.7%. See individual Stage descriptions and maps for more.

Road condition

The entire on road course utilises a combination of bitumen and tar sealed roads. The road condition will be updated prior to the event in our pre-event briefing.

Course - MTB

MTB - ITM Silvan Super TT

Nelson Tasman is just one of six Mountain Biking areas in the world to be awarded Gold Level Status by the International Mountain Biking Association. Silvan Forest is privately owned land and fortunately the owners are active MTB riders. Thanks to their vision and the work of the MTB Trails Trust they have created a network of trails for riders of all abilities to enjoy.

Akin to the Abel Tasman Cycle Challenge's motto 'the Cycle Challenge for Everyone' the ITM Silvan Super TT will suit riders of all experience levels.

All riders will start on Champion Road after the start of the on road event. Your time will start when you cross the timing mat and ride up to Silvan Park. At Silvan Park you will start the first loop of approximately 45 minute - 1 hour 15 minutes duration. The exact course will be revealed on Friday November 17th. It will include a loop with ascent and descents using Level 2 and Level 3 graded trails. The forest is an interesting mix of radiata, macrocarpa and some wonderful patches of native bush. The macrocarpa areas of the forest give a riding surface and experience quite different to anything else found in Nelson/Richmond.
